Comics Illustrator of the Week: Jack Kirby

Featured Art(top):  Fantastic Four #1 Facsimile Edition

Origin:  This week would’ve been Jack “The King” Kirby’s 101st birthday on Tue, Aug 28th.  The fan base and appreciation for comics’ biggest legend has only grown year by year since his passing in 1994.  The images above are only a tiny snippet of Kirby’s later period of work.  It’s well known comics lore that Kirby was in his 40’s already when he drew the landmark Fantastic Four #1(1961), which kick started the modern Marvel Superhero Universe.  So, it’s a reminder to all artists and creative minded people that it’s never too late to get started on something great!

Base of Operations:  Baxter Building

Media:  pen/ink, traditional painting
